Nick Jefferies, a 38-year-old Marine Corps veteran from Spokane. Nick shares his deeply personal story of dealing with PTSD after serving from 2003 to 2007 as an infantryman. He opens up about how hunting and the outdoors have provided him solace and a way to cope with the challenges he faced after returning from combat. Nick’s journey led him to connect with Scott Baldwin through their shared passion for the outdoors and mutual experiences as veterans.
Together, Nick and Scott founded Darkhorse Expeditions, a platform dedicated to helping veterans navigate life with PTSD by sharing their successes and providing mentorship and support. This episode not only showcases the excitement and skill involved in hunting but also highlights the importance of mental health and camaraderie among veterans.
A buck responds to a grunt call, an unexpected and thrilling moment for Scott Baldwin. Also, noticing that the deer in this region seem to be rutting later in the season compared to those in the Midwest, with the addition to the weather getting even colder adds another layer of complexity to the hunt.
