Nick Jeffries, a native of Spokane, Washington, and co-founder of Darkhorse Expeditions, has a captivating life story rooted in a deep respect for nature and remarkable resilience. From a young age, Nick’s passion for hunting and shed antlers was nurtured in the lush forests of Washington State.

At 18, Nick enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving as an infantryman in Fallujah, Iraq. His two tours from 2003 to 2007 left an indelible mark on him. During his service, he was meritoriously promoted to Corporal and Sergeant and was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with valor for his actions in combat.

After his honorable discharge, Nick used the Post 9/11 GI Bill to pursue higher education locally in Spokane. He earned an associate’s transfer degree from Spokane Community College and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Gonzaga University.

Nick also built a career in wildfire and forest management, currently serving as the Wildland Resource Planner for the City of Spokane Fire Department. Since 2008, he has been married to his wife, Rochelle, and they have two children, London and Nixon.

Nick discovered solace and purpose in crafting chandeliers and lighting fixtures from various antlers after his military service. This creative endeavor became a therapeutic outlet, helping him cope with PTSD while blending his love for nature with the need for healing.

As a founding partner of Darkhorse Expeditions, Nick channels his passion and expertise into supporting veterans battling PTSD and preventing suicide. Through Custom Antler Designs, he showcases his craftsmanship and promotes mental wellness and resilience among veterans.
